Lung and thoracic cancer

Conditions we treat with Proton in thoracic/lung cancer

Proton therapy potentially has fewer side effects and better protecting the nearby organs. Comparing to the conventional radiation, the most benefit has been shown when you have more complicated tumors; larger tumors or closer to the critical organs such as brachial plexus, spinal cord and heart. Additionally multiple tumors or re-irradiation may be considered.

Lung and thoracis cancers we may treat with proton therapy include

  • Non-small cell lung cancer
  • Small cell lung cancer
  • Malignant mesothelioma
  • Thymomas and thymic cancer
  • Cardiac tumors
  • Thoracic sarcoma
  • Recurrent thoracic cancers
